Radar called the meeting to order at 7 pm
1.OPENING REMARKS
Radar asked all members to introduce themselves and introduced our newest member – Kevin aka Spook.
2.SERGEANT – AT – ARMS REPORT
Radar reported:
a) Unit Bank account balance is $869.52 of which $230 is member fees that will be forwarded to national after which our balance will be $639.52.
b) CAV membership new and renewing – Radar circulated a copy of a membership renewal form for comments and feedback from members. Radar will email the renewal form in Microsoft word format which you will be able to fill out then print and bring with your member fees to the Dec 2nd. Renewal fees are $35.00 ($25 cheque made out to The CAV Kitshop plus $10 cash for unit dues) If you are renewing as a couple your CAV fees are $25 each and unit dues are $15.00. Members need to renew their membership by the Feb 3rd meeting. New members pay $55.00 plus unit fees of $10 for their first year.
c) Radar thanked everyone for their help and support to the Unit Christmas Party especially Watchdog who paid for the room rental and noted that the meal was great, Legion staff were excellent. He also thanked all those who donated door prizes. Chevy thanked those who made donations to the Food Bank which was gratefully accepted by the Gloucester Food Bank.
3.ROAD CAPTAIN REPORT
Trev reported that there are a number of motorcycle shows coming up:
a) December 12 – 14, 2008 Metro Toronto Convention Centre
b) January 2 – 4, 2009 North American Super Show at the International Centre
c) February 20 -22, 2009 Montreal, QC at the Montreal Convention Centre
d) March 28 – 29, 2009 National Motorcycle Show at Exhibition Place
e) April 4 – 5, 2009 Toronto Spring Motorcycle Show
Watch Dog suggested that perhaps the Unit consider hiring a bus so we could go as a group to Montreal. Watch Dog will contact Thom Bus Lines to check out prices.
Other motorcycle events occurring in 2009 that unit members may want to consider adding into their riding plan:
a) February 1 – March 8, 2009 - Daytona Bike Week
b) June, 2009 – Myrtle Beach
c) June, 2009 – Americade
d) June, 2009 – Laconia
e) July 3 – 5, 2009 – Bikers Reunion, New Liskard ON
f) August long weekend – The CAV National Meetings in Kenora
g) August 3 – 9, 2009 – Sturgess South Dakota
h) Labour Day Weekend, River Rat Rally – Digby NS
2009 Riding SeasonThe Executive will meet and discuss the riding schedule. Anyone with ideas for rides is encouraged to contact Trev at 613 830-7437 or ac.ocitapmys|netul.roverT#ac.ocitapmys|netul.roverT
The 2009 riding schedule will offer 2 rides per month and members are encouraged to contact other members to join them for rides when there are no scheduled events.
4.WEBSITE
Radar welcomed Spider to the meeting and asked him to update members on the website. Spider reported he has just been appointed webmaster and that he will contact Jake to obtain the information needed to access the website. He mentioned that:
1. links to websites were riders describe trips/tours they have completed – a been there done that page
2. it will take the winter to enhance the website
3. Riders were asked to think about what they may like to see on our website
5.PRESENTATIONS
Radar and Trev made presentations to:
La Douce received her name tag
Kevin received his patch
6.OTHER
a) The draw was won by Lavi.
b) Radar mentioned that the unit was going to plan a family BBQ early in the 2009 riding season. BGruff and his wife offered to host the BBQ at their home in Dunrobin alternately we could book the Orleans Legion – details to be worked out.
