1. PRESIDENT’S DISCUSSION ISSUES/OLD BUSINESS

a) 1st CAV Update: the CAV have been received word that the Legion will not be continuing with the National Memorial Ride. 1st CAV is asking if Paardeberg Unit could organize a ride to Beechwood for this year to allow CAV members to visit Beechwood following the HHR on June 6th. They know Paardeberg Unit is committed to supporting the Ottawa Ride for Dad on June 6th. Afghanistan Unit is organizing a Veterans Memorial Ride from Trenton to Ottawa to meet up with the National Memorial Ride. They are not expecting a big ceremony and ride. This is just the “ask” for our support in making this happen. The National Memorial Ride could be that event with a fee charged to those wishing to participate or do a collection. There is a conference call with Afghanistan Unit, Scicily Unit, Prof, 1 CAV President, Woody, 1 CAV Vice-President on Monday to sort out roles and responsibilities.

At the 1st CAV Rally 2019, Units were asked to commit to holding a signature event in support of National Guide Dogs in memory of Harry Watts. How willing are you as members to assist in making this happen? Please think of some options to raise some funds as a unit.
Pierre, 1 CAV Road Captain to provide an overview of the Road Runner Award. An email will be circulated to all members outlining the process and procedures.

b) Meetings: March will be another breakfast meeting in the West End at Buster's Bar and Grill in Kanata. Details are on our Website under Event Calendar. A reminder to RSVP will be sent out prior to the breakfast. The plan is to return to meeting at the Blackburn Arms in April.

c) Executive Positions: The Unit is required to have a Vice President, please contact Paul if you are interested in this position. It would be nice to have an Assistant Road Captain, please consider volunteering to help Big Al our Road Captain out.

ii) June 20 Sat UNIT - 09:00 hrs Darren Williams & Wayne Boone Memorial Ride
1. Posters are great
2. Thank you for the BBQ invitation; our membership agreed to purchase and pay for the burgers/hot dogs, buns, salads etc. We can confirm menu later.

Yes we are planning on staying at the Yukon Lodge if there is space available. Last year there wasn't space. However, given that some of our members are not veterans and therefore not eligible to stay at the Lodge so we are also looking at getting a group rate at hotel / motel.

3. Yes the Unit is interested in joining everyone for a group ride to Hillier Estates on Sat Morning.

4. Yes Paardeberg voted to share the expenses the costs of the ceremony

5. I had a conversation with Sherain regarding the Wine, and her discussions with Woody following last year's ceremony. Sherain would like to use the photo Wayne and Darren on the poster for the label as it has become almost a "logo" for the event. I've attached the extracted photo perhaps your original for the poster would be clearer. I have also attached two photos of Wayne.

6. Sherain and I talked about having Steve from the Pipe Hitters speak about Wayne. Sherain is going to talk to him to confirm that he is willing to do so. Do you want us to ask our Padre Sky Pilot to provide a prayer or reading?

6. Thank you Irene for saying there wouldn't be presentations during the ceremony.
