7:09 pm Flatfoot, Sgt-at-Arms called the meeting to order with a request for one minute of Silence for fallen soldiers and riders:

The silence was broken with the reciting of:

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:

1. President’s Opening Remarks
Trev, President welcomed everyone, especially Lisa and welcomed Pebbles back after her surgery. He asked members and guests to introduce themselves.

2. Sergeant-at-Arms Remarks
Flatfoot reported:

  • that the Unit has 31 paid members
  • Unit fund is in good stead
  • Motorcycle Ride for Dad and the Ottawa Hospital FREE PSA testing site will be the General Campus on May 4th, with free parking - the testing is be open to men of all ages - they will be set up to test at least 1,000. A "Show and Shine" is planned.
  • he will pass out copies of the Bikers Church Swap Meet flyers thanks to Jacks for get the copies

3. Webmaster Report
Spider reported that the website will have the Unit "Ride Plan" up as soon as it has been finalized by the Road Captain and Executive. There will be a direct link to this page from the left toolbar. Photos will continue to be posted as received. Looking forward to a great year. He also mentionned that he had a great night playing at Kaffé 1870. Congrats Spider on a great song writers show.

4. President's Report
a) Past Events
Trevor reported that:

  • March 24 :- Motorcycle Ride for Dad afternoon of Pool at Dooly's was fun not as well attended as previous pool days, but it was fun.

b) Upcoming Events

  • April 7:- Battle of Vimy Commemorative Service Memorial Park Cenotaph, 130 Station Street, Belleville Ontario at 14:00
  • April 13-14 :- National Motorcycle and Tattoo Show
  • April 27:- May is Motorcycle Awareness Month - Launch at Ottawa City Hall at 10:00 am to Noon
  • May 4:- Drifter is organizing a Ride the Valley for Soldier On, stay tuned as it won't be formal ride in conjunction with Calabogie Peaks
  • May 4:- FREE PSA Testing at General Campus of the Ottawa Hospital in conjunction with Motorcycle Ride for Dad and the Ottawa Hospital Foundation more info to follow
  • May 4:- Biker's Church Annual Swap Meet - 10:00 - 15:00 155 Carillon, Ottawa
  • May 7:- Paardeberg May meeting at 19:00
  • May 10-17:- Bike Week in Myrtle Beach, SC
  • May 11:- Trooper Mark Wilson Ride - hosted by 1st CAV ORTONA UNIT, London, ON 9am to 5pm includes a show and shine (link is to a Facebook page event listing)
  • May 12:- 45th Anniversary Wegner Point Memorial Service for 7 Paaratroopers lost during a night drop, the costliest peacetime training accidents in Canadian military history
  • May 17-19 :- The CAV Spring National in Moncton NB
  • May 18:- Demo Rides at Harley Davidson de l'Outaouais, Gatineau PQ
  • May 24-25 :- Rolling Thunder in Washington DC - about 900,000 motorcycles in the parade. This yeaer a large contingent of CAV members are planning to attend. Watch for emails providing details on this event
  • May 26:- Demo Rides at Freedom Harley Davidson of Ottawa
  • June 1:- Motorcycle Ride for Dad Ottawa - 1CAV Paardeberg Unit will be providing blockers again this year remember to sign up
  • June 1:- Highway of Heros Ride (link is to a Facebook page event listing)
  • June 2:- D-Day Celebrations at the Canadian War Museum and the National Memorial Ride to the Canadian Millitary Cemetary - more info to follow

Trev also reported that a new CAV Unit "Queenston Heights" will be stood up at the Port Dover Legion on April 3 and that members who have ATVs may be interested in a Ride for Dad ATV event April 27th in Ompah

4. Open Discussion

  • Unit BBQ and Ride:- Trev mentionned that Jacks has offered to host the Unit BBQ again this year and the Executive will work with Jacks to select an appropriate date for the ride and BBA
  • Unit Photo:- Roadrunner mentionned to Trev about having a Unit photo shoot at the Cumberland Village Museaum - this will be a must attend event for all members so the Executive will work with Roadrunner to arrange an appropriate date and time.

5. Presentations
a) Unit pesentations:

  • Woody received his 1st CAV crest and Paardeberg Name Tag

b) Draw: tonights winner was Roadrunner

6. Closing Remarks
Trev thanked everyone for coming out to the meeting.

Trev adjourned the meeting at 7:32pm and encouraged members to stick around and socialize.
