Notes

7:20 pm Flatfoot, Sgt-at-Arms called the meeting to order with a request for one minute of Silence for fallen soldiers and riders broken by:

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them, We will remember them.

In attendance:
Executive: Trev, President; Mapper, Vice-President; Flatfoot, Sgt-at-Arms; Kathy, Secretary; Spider, Webmaster/Road Captain

Members: Newf, Jay, Jacks, Alabama, Fran, Big Al, Mel, Witch, J.C., Flatfoot

1. President’s Opening Remarks
Trev welcomed everyone and asked members to introduce themselves.

2. Vice-President
Mapper had no updates.

3. Sergeant-at-Arms Report
Reported the unit fund stands at $480.

3. Road Captain's Report
Spider reported that he just returned on the weekend from a great trip south to the Tail of the Dragon then west to California, up the coast through BC, Alberta, Sask and down to Sturgess ND before heading back east to Ottawa.

4. President's Report
Because Spider just returned from his trip Trev provided a review of the activities some members participated:

  • June 8-10th Bikes in the Bay Fran and Big Al attended
  • June 17th Pre-Ride of the Ride for Rescue Cats - a great turnout for this ride - Big Al and Fran lead us on a great ride of the route for the Ride for Rescue Cats, stopping Renfrew for lunch.
  • June 18th Sod Turning Ceremony for the Afghanistan Memorial in Trenton- Trev represented Paardberg Unit at this event.
  • June 20th EO HOG Chapters Chilli Cookoff Kathy entered a chilli in this contest, she didn't win, but Ploughman, President of Cambrai Unit did win.
  • June 21st Aboriginal Veterans Ceremony Trev represented Paardeberg Unit
  • June 23rd Ride for RETT Syndrom Trev, Big All, Fran, Newf, Mel and Witch all participated in this Vimy sponsored event.
  • June 24th Korean Veterans Association Parade - Trev, Kathy, Newf attended while our on Bgruff was the parade Sgt-at-Arms, afterwards we all went for a ride. Newf took a photo of Trev and Bgruff with the Chief of Defence Staff, General Natynczyk
  • June 27th Tim Moat Annual Baseball Game was a great time as in previous years. Members of Paardeberg were joined by Jim Summers from Motorcycle Ride for Dad, Kitbag from Cambrai Unit
  • June 29 to July 1st New Liskeard Biker's Reunion Kathy and Trev attending meeting up with a number of CAV members from Vimy. Great weekend
  • June 30th Nathan Ride for Hope Jacks, Fran and Big All participated in this event

  • August 25thPaardeberg Unit Annual BBQ - Jacks and Alabama are hosting the unit's annual BBQ at their home in Embrum. There will be a ride to the BBQ arriving at Jack's and Alabama's in time for dinner time. More info to follow….

5. Points from the Floor
Jacks and Alabama are looking forward to hosting the Unit at their place, bring your fishing pole if you like as you can fish from their backyard. Jacks is looking at organizing a horseshoe game or two and having a bonfire. Details on the cost and directions to their home in Embrum will follow.

Trev thanked everyone for coming out to the meeting and encouraged members to stay a while and visit.
