7:08 pm Jay, Sgt-at-Arms called the meeting to order with a request for one minute of Silence for fallen soldiers and riders.
Especially York Regional Police Constable Styles and Master Corporal Roy

The silence was broken with the reciting of:
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning

1. President’s Opening Remarks
Gepetto welcomed everyone to the meeting and noted that we have had a great riding season so far. Road Runner had a small accident, but is recovering and will be back in the saddle soon. The BBQ was a great event and he thanked Spider and his wife for their hospitality. He mentioned the unveiling of the Mullins Mu. Nominations for 2011 Rider of the Year award are being accepted by any executive meeting.

Gepetto noted that 1 CAV has raised three new units this past year:
Casa Berardi Unit - located in Port Perry/Lindsay Ontario
Regalbuto Unit – Belleville Ontario
Unité Ma'sum Ghar – Portneuf Quebec

He also mentioned the “Portraits of Honour” which is a series of portraits of each fallen soldier from Afganistan and is travelling across Canada. Trev mentioned he has seen the display and was very impressed. Check out their website and plan to see this display when it is in your area. http://www.portraitsofhonour.ca/ The display will be in Ottawa for November 11th and 12th 2011.

Another project is “Wreaths Across Canada” More information to follow.

Gepetto passed on the website http://www.cfappreciation.ca/ which current military members and veteran can access to get discounts on products and services. Check it out.

He reminded members that Hammer has been posted out of Canada for a year and Spider accepted the position of Road Captain.

2. Vice- President’s discussion issues

Trev reminded members of tomorrow’s baseball game with Tim Moat’s team. Everyone was sent an email with the detail. Trev asked members to check their emails tomorrow afternoon as he will send out an email saying the event is rained out. At this time rain is forcasted for the morning only. The rain date is July 20th.

3. Sergeants-at-Arms
a) Finance report: Jay reported that he didn’t have an update for the finances other than all outstanding debts had been paid and he had received the revenues from the BBQ.
b) Membership: Jay recapped current membership is 33 as Brian has transferred to Vimy Unit as he has been posted to Kingston.
Jay also stated that he would be stepping down as Sgt-at-Arms at the end of this term, when the unit election and appointment process begins. If you are interested in becoming the Sgt-at-Arms please speak to him or any member of the executive. 4. Road Captain Report
Spider reported that he just returned from a great weekend ride to Manitoulin Island. He will be leaving for his holidays to the east coast on Friday July 9th and won’t be back until July 20th. He encouraged members to send an email message to all members letting them know that you are heading out on a ride: give a time and place to meet. All members are encouraged to use the email list for this purpose.

5. Other Business

  • Mel and Witch invited anyone interested in attending the Highland Games in Maxville to come and camp out at their place in Maxville.
  • Gepetto reported that he and Q-T-Cat will be on holidays and heading to Windsor in August.
  • Trev and Kathy will be heading out West about July 23rd until after the long weekend in September. Silly agreed to do the minutes of the August and September meetings and send them to Spider to load on the website.
  • Bgruff distributed Blue necktie pins to all those who volunteered at the Motorcycle Ride for Dad.

- Lucster received his 1st CAV crest and Paardeberg Unit badge from Gepetto and Jay
- Silly received her 1st CAV supporter crest and Paardeberg Unit badge from Gepetto and Jay
- Mel was appointed Assistant Road Captain and received his badge from Spider

7. President’s Closing Remarks
a) Adjournment
Gepetto adjourned the meeting at 7:50 pm inviting people to ride safe.
