1. President’s Opening Remarks
Gepetto welcomed everyone

2. President’s Discussion Issues
Gepetto provided some highlights from the CAV Spring National:

  • The CAV is now a federally incorporated entity
  • Financial Statements and a Budget were presented
  • Motorcycle Ride For Dad gave a presentation
  • Special Olympics gave a presentation

3. Road Captain Report
Hammer provided a briefing on Paardeberg’s duties for the Motorcycle Ride for Dad Blockers on Saturday, outlining each member’s position. Tonight’s ride will be to visit our positions in preparation for Saturday’s event. Hammer will be sending out an email with details for meeting prior to going to the blocker positions. Members who are doing the ride only are welcome to join the blockers at 7:00 am at the units “home” Tim Hortons at 3224 Hawthorne Road, Ottawa, ON K1G 3W9 ‎ (Map) prior to heading to the Aviation Museum for registration.

NOTE: pre-registration is available online (not sure of the cutoff date and time); June 4th, 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. Ottawa Police Association or onsite June 5th at the Aviation Museum 7:00-8:45 a.m.

There are a number of rides coming up in June so please check the unit calendar for up to date information as well Hammer will be sending out emails regarding unit rides. Members were reminded that they can email the unit to notify members they are going on a ride and looking for company.

June 6th - 1st annual CAV D-DAY INVASION June 6, 2010 at the Canadian War Museum.

Alongside Heroes of the CAV/VAC who helped make our history a legacy of freedom, the Canadian Army Veteran's Motorcycle Units will invade the Canadian War Museum, in our Nation's Capital to listen to the stories of valour and service surrounded by the collection of our nation's war museum and the artifacts that made history, in its world class home at Lebreton Flats, Ottawa, Ontario in honour of the ''Soldier On Program''.

Join me at the Unit's Tim Hortons on Hawthorne for a 1100 hours departure on Sunday, June 6 as we take a short ride around areas of military interest around the NCR and end at the National War Museum. Let's have a good showing for the first annual of many more such activities and continue the momentum of great positive energy that weekend after the Ottawa Motorcycle Ride for Dad.

June 6th National Memorial Ride – Registration is from 1130 until 1300, from Louis Riel School 1655 Bearbrook Road, Blackburn Hamlet, ON K1B 4N3 (For your GPS) Departing the school at 1300 hrs. The weekend costs $20 to participate, which includes the Saturday Night Bikers Bash at the Greely Legion. It also includes an NMR supporter patch (a $10 value).

June 19th John Flagg Memorial Ride - Millennium Park, Bancroft On registration between 10-noon. Ride starts at noon. $25.00

July 10th PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDARS for the 2nd Annual Paardeberg Unit BBQ at Bgruff’s ranch, more details to follow.

4. Presentations
Gepetto presented the following patched, badges and pins (See photos below):

  • Jay with his Sgt-at-Arms patch
  • Hammer with his Road Captain patch
  • New member “TRON” Ron Wood was given his 1st CAV crest and Paardeberg Unit badge.
  • BGRUFF received his year pin

Gepetto adjourned the meeting at 7:10 pm.
Hammer lead the ride to the Aviation parkway.
