Notes

In attendance:

Executive: Mapper, President; Nets, Sgt-at-Arms; Kathy, Secretary; Spider, Webmaster and Hammer, Road Captain

Members: Pebbles, Dino, Big Al, Road Runner, Jay, Don, Smiley, Newf and Smiley

7:06 pm Nets, Sgt-at-Arms called the meeting to order with a request for one minute of Silence for fallen soldiers Cpl. Nathan Cirillo, and WO Patrice Vincent:

The silence was broken with the reciting of:

1. President’s Opening Remarks
Mapper, President welcomed everyone.

2. Vice-President's Remarks
Nets reported that Jacks has secured a new location in Carleton Place for the Christmas Dinner as Grumpies has closed. The new restaurant will be able to provide the same menu at the same costs.

3. Sergeant-at-Arms Remarks
Nets reported

  • Current membership stands at 29 + 3 honourary
  • Unit fund is in good stead approximately with over $600 in the bank plus approximately $70 left over from unit BBQ. Following a decision by the Executive a $50 donation was made to the Fund for Cpl Cirillo and another in the name of WO Vincent.

4. Road Captain Report
Hammer reported that its raining and his motorcycles are now ready for winter. A few hardy members are still slipping out for a ride here and there.

5. President Report
Mapper reported that the Executive met on the weekend:
The Christmas Dinner will be on Saturday Dec 13th:
a. Members will be asked to confirm their attendance so that the appropriate number of seat can be reserved.
b. The Executive decided to forgo hiring a DJ and just go with the restaurant music as most people just want to chat and enjoy each others company.
c. There will be a basket to collect donations for the food bank
d.Breakfast socials: The members agreed that the unit should meet for breakfast on the 3rd Saturday of the month starting in January (the only month we do not have a regular meeting) and go to a different restaurant each time. If you have a restaurant that serves up a great breakfast please let Kathy know. A message will go out each month at least a week prior to the breakfast noting location and timings.
e. Members agreed to continue with the units tradition of the Chinese Gift Exchange -

Chinese Auction Rules:
* Those wishing to participate should bring an item in good condition that they do not need from home - WRAPPED (only ONE item per person) Items can be anything from a bicycle pump, motorcycle gloves, etc., bath products, wine to household or Xmas decorations.
* When you arrive you will receive a ticket for your gift.
* Tickets will be drawn with the: // a) 1st person choosing a gift - then opening the gift;// // b) the 2nd person may steal the gift or choose an unopened gift, should the 1st person's gift be stolen they may choose another gift and must open it;// // c) the 3rd person may steal either gift or choose an unopened gift and so on//

6. Open Discussion

Hammer reminded members that the Motorcycle Ride for Dad Volunteer Appreciation will be on Sunday Nov 16th from 1200 hrs to 1400 hrs.

Pebbles noted that there is a Motorcycle Swap Meet, November 8th starting at 11:00 am RA Centre 195 Maloney, Gatineau, QC

Kathy will circulate a listing of National Capital area Remembrance Ceremonies via email to all members.

7.Closing Remarks
Mapper thanked everyone for coming out to the meeting.
