Notes

7:08 pm Flatfoot, Sgt-at-Arms called the meeting to order with a request for one minute of Silence for fallen soldiers and riders broken by:
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them, We will remember them.

In attendance:
Executive: Trev, President; Flatfoot, Sgt-at-Arms; Hammer, Road Captain and Kathy, Secretary

Members: Dino, Pebbles, Road Runner, Big Al, Newf, Nets, J.C., Jay, and Nuke

Regrets: Mapper, Vice-President;

1. President Opening Remarks/Report
Trev, Past Present lead the meeting in Mapper's absence and asked everyone to introduce themselves.

2. Vice President Report
No report from Mapper as he and Cie are in Wales

3. Sergeant-at-Arms Report
Flatfoot noted that we currently have 28 paid members and 1 honourary member and the unit fund stands at $729.32

Christmas Party:- 33 members have paid. Jacks, Vice-President secured a preferred rate for the Travelodge of $85.

4. Road Captain's Report
Hammer reported that he didn't have anything as the bikes are all safely tucked away.

5. President’s Remarks

  • October 2 :- Wednesday night coffee - 3 members: Jacks, Trev and Road Runner
  • October 5 :- BBQ at Perth Legion - great turn out and good burgers
  • October 9 :- Wednesday night coffee - 3 members: Trev, Dino and Pebbles
  • October 12 :- Fall Colours Ride - AWESOME day of riding - weather was great, visited 6 Legions and raised $2,400 for CAD Skiiers
  • October 18 :- Kate MacEachern's Long Walk Home - Trev walked with Kate from Gatineau to the Montgomery Legion

Trev encouraged members to participate in events preceding Remembrance Day such as:

  • Still Looking for Paradise :- a play at the Ottawa Little Theater from Nov 7 to 9th
  • Afghanistan Film Festival :- featuring 5/6 films being presented at the Barney Danson Theatre at the War Museum for free
  • November 10th :- Rockland Legion holding their Remembrance Ceremony
  • November 11th :- Trev encourage members to attend ceremonies in their respective communities. He will be once again part of the Legion Dominion Command Colour Party at the National War Memorial.
  • November 24th :- Motorcycle Ride for Dad will be hosting their Volunteer Appreciation at the OPS mess all volunteers are welcome
  • December 1st :- Wreaths Across Canada - All members are encourage to come out to the National Millitary Cementary to lay wreaths on all fallen veterans graves
  • December 3rd :- Next unit meeting
  • December 14th :- Unit Christmas Party at D & S BBQ in Carlsbad Springs

5. Points from the Floor
a) Lloyd Carr:- Trev reported that Lloyd Carr a former Paardeberg member had been quite ill, but Trev spoke with him and he is recovering comfortably at home

5. Closing Remarks
Trev thanked everyone for coming out to the meeting and encouraged members to stay a while and visit.

Trev adjourned the meeting at 7:50 p.m.
