October 7, 2014

In attendance:

Executive: Mapper, President; Nets, Sgt-at-Arms; Kathy, Secretary and Hammer, Road Captain

Members: Tank, Pebbles, Dino, Big Al, Plowman, Road Runner, Jay, J.C., Trev, Geppeto, Q-T-Cat, Don, Smiley, Newf, Odie, Spider, Webmaster, Witch and Mel, Assistant Road Captain

7:06 pm Nets, Sgt-at-Arms called the meeting to order with a request for one minute of Silence for fallen soldiers and riders:

The silence was broken with the reciting of:

1. President’s Opening Remarks
Mapper, President welcomed everyone.

2. Vice-President's Remarks

  • The Run For Your Life race in Carleton Place was well attended by the Unit. Our support was greatly appreciated.
  • Dan, the Vet who needed help with his shed is thrilled to have it completed.

**3. Sergeant-at-Arms Remarks*
Nets reported

  • Unit fund is in good stead approximately with over $400 in the bank plus approximately $70 left over from unit BBQ.

4. Road Captain Report
Newf forwarded a message from Hammer that the riding season is over, see you next month.

Mapper reported that on September 27, 9 members had a great ride up to Calabogie, and on Sunday, September 29 member participated in the Annual Moon Mullins River Run.

5. Presentations
Mapper presented:

6. Open Discussion
1 CAV Gathering:
Mapper gave the floor to the members who attended the Gathering:
Nets, Mel and Geppeto who reported:

  • that the main concern was the financial statements in particular, the Telus bill for $5,365 which was all cell phone bills. The bills for cell phone usage will be reduced by at least 75% as the service provider has been changed.
  • $15,000 was a repayment of money to Trapper for the money invested in The CAV to get the organization started.
  • Trapper received reimbursement of mileage for gas at a rate of 21 cents per km.
  • In the future there will be one paid employee an office Manager 15% of revenues are allowed to be used for administration expenses
  • 100% accountability of revenues and expenses
  • Still seeking Charitable status
  • President will serve for a 3 year term
  • the 1 CAV President is committed to more open communication. Line of communication will be The CAV President to 1 CAV, 2 CAV and 3 CAV Presidents then they will forward info to Unit Presidents and the reverse for communicating to HQs
  • HQ is working on an electoral process and accounting process

Members were satisfied with the information received and Nets will forward Paardeberg Unit dues to 1 CAV HQ before the deadline.

7.Closing Remarks
Mapper thanked everyone for coming out to the meeting.
