7:05 pm Flatfoot, Sgt-at-Arms called the meeting to order with a request for one minute of Silence for fallen soldiers and riders broken by:
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them, We will remember them.

In attendance:
Executive: Trev, President; Kathy, Secretary; Mapper, Vice-President; Flatfoot, Sgt-at-Arms; Spider, Webmaster/Road Captain; Mel, Assistant Road Captain and Lucster, Assistant Road Captain

Members: Hammer, Nuk, Nets, Witch, Road Runner, and Jacks

Regrets: Alabama and Newf

1. President Opening Remarks/Report
Trev welcomed everyone and asked members to introduce themselves.

2. Sergeant-at-Arms Report

  • No change in the membership
  • $90 was collected from the participants at the Unit BBQ: - Alabama and Jacks will be submitting receipts for the cost of the BBQ.
  • Giggles, National Membership Coordinator has sent her initial membership renewal request. All members must submit a renewal form with their renewal dues which are: $25 for The C.A.V. and $5 for the Unit for a total of $40.

3. Road Captain's Report
Past Events:

  • Aug 11th Eastern Ontario HOG Chapter’s “Breast ride ever”:- Spider participated in this event
  • Aug 18th “Sunshine BBQ” for Tim Moat:- Hammer, Newf, Big Al and Fran participated
  • August 25th Boomers Legacy this event was cancelled
  • August 25th Paardeberg Unit Annual BBQ - Jacks and Alabama hosted the unit's annual BBQ at their home in Embrum. Members met at the Hawthorne Tim Hortons for a ride to the Biker's Church Appreciation Day. Spider participated in a number of the biker rodeo events and won a prize. Judy and Silly helped him for a couple of the events. Trev lead us on a ride through the back roads to the BBQ. THANK YOU Jacks and Alabama. Jack has a HUGE BBQ and did a great job of BBQing up a storm - great sausages, and various flavours of porkloin. Alabama baked up some wonderful beans, and an array of desserts. They even had live entertainment.
  • September 2 Seaway Run:- the unit rode down to the Bridgeview Restaurant joined by a few members from Cambrai and Sicily for brunch followed by a ride to Gananoque and then back up through various backroads to Manotick.

Upcoming Events:

  • September 8 Veterans Memorial Ride:- hosted by Cambrai.
  • September 9 Guide Dog Dice Run:- A unit favourite - we will meet at the Guide Dog startpoint in Manotick at 9 am
  • September 15 Wheels of Hope:- Anzio Unit fundraiser for Cancer
  • September 15 Cruise Don't Bruise:- Fundraiser for the Eastern Ottawa Resource Centre - to assist abused women and children
  • September 16 Ride of Spendor:- Fundraiser for Carleton Place Regional Hospital - another unit favorite
  • September 23 “Army Run” Spider OPI, More info to follow.
  • September 29-30 Huntsville Fall Colours:- Spider will circulate info on the hotel and ride.

4. Points from the Floor
a) Christmas Party:- Kathy with Sheryl Boggs from Cambrai will explore options for an area Christmas Party.
b) Presentations: Trev and Spider presented Nets with his Winged Wheel
c) Draw:- Trev was the winner of this weeks draw

5. Closing Remarks
Trev thanked everyone for coming out to the meeting and encouraged members to stay a while and visit.
