September 11th VMH Ride

The Executive Summary of the attached instructions sees CAV units from the Ottawa/Gatineau Area and Kingston Area meeting at the Esso Truck Stop (Assembly Area) at start of Hwy 416 near the 401, and riding up along the Veterans' Memorial Highway (VMH) to the Veterans' Commemorative Park at County Road 19 (River Road). There, a small service will be held, and the ride continues north on the VMH and the Queensway and ending at the Rideau Perley Veterans Health Centre. A BBQ will be hosted by the folks at the Perley during their Family Day activities. Last year's BBQ activities included motorcycle rides to some veterans and family members within the Perley Parking areas which was very well received by all. This activity is completely free of charge including the BBQ.

Paardeberg will RV with other CAV units at the Tim Hortons in Manotick at 0730 hrs for a 0745 hrs pre-ride brief and 0800 hrs departure on that Saturday. Further details in the attached document.

Critical point - we need numbers of people that will be attending this ride for the purposes of BBQ planning. Last year's great turnout created some challenges in keeping up with the feeding plan. Please forward to me your numbers no later than 05 Sep 2010. I will be out of contact as of the 6th until the 10th of Sept out of the country, so it's critical that we get numbers to Cambrai.

Yours in Riding,

Ricardo F.J. Dias
Road Captain
Paardeberg Unit - 1st CAV
