7:00 pm Trev, called the meeting to order and calls for one minute of Silence for fallen soldiers and riders

1. President’s Opening Remarks
a) In the absence of our President, Kathy, welcome and asked members to introduce themselves and welcomed our newest members Matthew and Fugitive.

2. President’s Discussion Issues
a) Business arising
i) Review of last month’s events/rides: Trevor provided an overview,
Aug 22 - Paardeberg Wednesday night scheduled rides wrapped up with a ride for ice cream in honour of Kraken to the Dairy Queen at Beechwood and St. Laurent
Aug 11 FREE Prostate Clinic at the Winchester District Memorial Hospital – A few members turned out for this one – Big Al, Frenchy, Smiley, Trev
Aug 13 - Military Police Motorcycle Relay for Blind Children's Charity – a great turnout for this one we had a full table. Woody and Amanda, Mapper and Welshgirl, Sherain, Adam and Krista, Frenchy, Big Al, Kathy and Trevor. Hope I didn’t miss anyone.
August 25 – August 26 - CAV Gathering 2018 – Trev and Kathy to speak to this later in the meeting.
Aug 25 - Cruise Don't Bruise – no one attended.
Aug 29 to Sept 02 14th Annual Wharf Rat Rally Digby, Nova Scotia – no one attended, but it’s on a bucket list for a few members.

3. Vice- President’s discussion issues
a) VP – updates The 2018 Brett Pearson Run for Your Life
In the absence of our Vice President, Kathy reminded members of this ride. There was a discussion and we agreed to send out an email to RV and ride to this event as a group and to walk in the parade.
b) Website – Updates to the calendar on going

4. Sergeant-at-Arms
a) Finance report: Kathy will update the financials for the next meeting.
b) Membership – renewals were received tonight and Kathy will follow up with those not in attendance and provide an update at our next meeting.

5. Road Captain Report
a) Review/Update on next month’s events/rides:
In the absence of our Road Captain Kathy reviewed the upcoming events on our calendar:

Sept 09 Sun INFO 9:00-10:00 a.m. The 30th annual Guide Dog Ride is an all-brand motorcycle ride in support of Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind. Entry fee is $25 per rider in advance, by signing up Online. On-site registration at Ontario Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind, 4120 Rideau Valley Dr. Manotick will be $30 per rider. Once you are signed up on September 9, depart on the 180-kms route through Eastern Ontario and then join us for the post-ride BBQ and prizes. This is a charity ride, proudly sponsored by CMC 011 Ottawa: Canadian Motorcycle Cruisers, with 100% of proceeds directed towards the training of guide dogs and assistance dogs.

Sept 15 Sat 8:30-9:30 am UNIT Calabogie Motorcycle Poker Run in support of Music and Youth Mental Health Initiatives - Registration is $30 at Don Cherry's Hazeldean Mall, 320 Eagleson Rd, Kanata, ON K2M 1C9 or register early online for $20 until Sept 14th] Ride Ride Route or Google Maps version

Sept 16 Sun UNIT Unit Ride and BBQ - more details to follow - You WILL BE required to sign up for this event as it will be subsidized by the unit.

Sept 29 Sat UNIT 9:00 a.m. Brett Pearson Run for Your Life is a 5km run/walk fundraiser that has a mission of bringing suicide and substance abuse out of the shadows and into the light. The run takes place on the Mississippi River Walk Trail. A warm up prior to the 5k run/walk will be provided by Greco Carleton Place. Meet up is at the Carleton Place Town Square, behind the Carleton Place Town Hall. Members discussed this event and indicated they wanted to participate as walkers in the parade rather than slow parade the motorcycles.

b) Special events/overnighters:
Adam and his wife Krista have generously agreed to host this event on the 16th – There was some discussions regarding possibly having a dinner instead.

That the Unit hold the Ride and subsidized BBQ on September 16th and organize a subsidized dinner (date to be determined) CARRIED

6. Points from the Floor
a) New business – Synopsis of the 1 CAV Rally:
Kathy and Trevor attended this meeting in London and reviewed the presentation given by Gatekeeper. The power point presentation will be circulated to all members following the meeting. 1 CAV presentation

It was noted that:
The back of the CAV vest is to be clear of all patches except The CAV crest. The back of the vest is defined as the back portion from the side seam to side seam.
